Anneliese Lawton
Author, Strategic Marketing Consultant, Mental Health Champion (Board Chair) MyselfJob Description
That’s a great question! Haha
I wear two hats – on one side of my career I’m a Strategic Marketing Consultant (Founder and CEO) of Lawton & Co., I help brands and entrepreneurs in the mental health, community, and environment spaces establish unique strategic approaches to their marketing (digital media, traditional, community engagement, partnerships) – my big focus is “human centered marketing” – aka, authentic and genuine connection between brand and consumer to create long-lasting relationships and trust.
On the other side of my career, I’m a mom who accidentally went viral and became an influencer overnight when I wrote a Facebook post on my experience as a mom. I quickly decided that instead of being an influencer, I wanted to be “influential” and started to speak, write, and advocate for womens and mental health initiatives. I also became a best-selling published author.

Career Story
Non linear!
I was the first in my family to attend post secondary school and didn’t exactly have a role model in the “professional career” space. I decided that I wanted to be a teacher, but I didn’t have great grades (which I realized at 33 was due to undiagnosed ADHD). The long story short is, I did an undergrad in Human Geography and struggled through three years of university. I Decided to graduate with a three year pass and do a college post-grad with a co-op – and there I really shined. While I did love parts of the career I was building in environmental policy, I found I was drawn to communications, education, and marketing aspects of my various jobs. I had written all my life, but never thought having a career as a writer was a sustainable path (let alone see myself in someone portrayed in media). Through failure (aka taking chances and lessons learned) I landed exactly where I was supposed to be.
