Dr. Zobia Jawed
Senior Researcher, Faculty Lead for Engineering Design Projects and Faculty Member for Engineering and Business Program McMaster UniversityJob Description
If I were to describe my job to an 8th-grade student, I would say that I’m like a really smart and accomplished scientist, teacher, and business leader all rolled into one. I have studied a lot and earned multiple advanced degrees in different areas like engineering, business, and the environment.
One of the coolest things I do is come up with creative solutions to big problems that affect the whole world, like COVID-19. I figured out a way to track the virus in the water we use, which helped doctors and scientists understand how the disease spreads and how to keep people safe. It’s kind of like being a detective for health issues!
I also work on projects to make our planet a better place to live. I help with things like finding ways to use clean energy, reduce pollution, and make sure we’re not harming the environment. So, I’m a bit like a superhero for the Earth!
In addition to all of that, I’m a teacher too. I help students learn about engineering and business, and I guide other teachers and students on exciting projects. I really enjoy helping young people grow and learn.
Lastly, I run my own company where I use my expertise to help other businesses do better. I come up with smart plans and strategies to make their companies successful.
So, in a nutshell, I’m a scientist, teacher, problem solver, and business leader, all working together to make the world a better place!
