Ether Adnan
Senior Project Manager/ Product Manager Self EmployedJob Description
I help find technical solution to real world problems.
Imagine we’re all working together to build a really cool new app, like a game or a tool that helps with homework. My job is to make sure that everyone on the team knows what to do and when to do it, so we finish on time and don’t spend too much money. I plan out all the steps, like how you’d plan a road trip, making sure we have the right directions, snacks, and gas to get there.
I also check in with everyone regularly to see if they need help or if anything’s going wrong, kind of like a coach who makes sure all the players know their roles and can play their best. And if something changes, like the app needs a new feature or we run into a problem, I help the team adjust so we can still finish the project without too many delays.
In short, I’m like the captain of a team, making sure we work together smoothly, stay on track, and build something awesome!

Career Story
High School: Discovering Interests
1. In high school, I was interested in subjects like economics and I had a natural curiosity about how things worked. I also enjoyed problem-solving but never got the opportunity to work on projects with others. I knew the world was changing with the introduction of the internet so I wanted to ride that wave and figured I’ll study something with tech in University
I grew up in Abu Dhabi and after high school I went all the way to sunny Arizona to do my undergraduate in Management Information Systems.
2. University : Studying Technology and Business
I studied a mix of technology and business. I learned about programming, how computers work, and how businesses use technology to solve problems. I also took classes on project management, which is all about planning and leading projects.
During college, I did internships with NASA and Merrill Lynch where I worked on real-world tech projects. These experiences taught me a lot about working with teams, understanding the needs of clients, and delivering projects on time.
After that I decided to do more studies so I went to the University of Toronto to study more about Information and how Technology can be used to share it.
Thereupon I finally felt ready for the real world and worked for a Health Tech start up company
3. Starting My Career: Entry-Level Tech Jobs
I began working in entry-level tech roles as a business analyst. I helped build software and figure out what customers needed from new apps or systems.
I got to see how different parts of a tech project come together—how developers, designers, and clients all play a role. This is where I realized that I liked helping the team stay organized and on track, so I started learning more about project management.
4. Becoming a Project Manager: Leading Teams and Projects
Now, I work as an IT Project Manager, where I lead larger projects that involve building new software, upgrading systems, or solving technical challenges for businesses.
Along the way, I’ve learned a lot about communication, problem-solving, and adapting to change—skills that help me succeed in this role.
Throughout this journey, I’ve found that my favorite part of the job is helping teams turn ideas into reality and seeing how our work makes a difference for clients. It’s been a path of continuous learning, and I’ve enjoyed the challenge of balancing technology with leadership.
