High school focus on Arts…led me to Interior Design…then to Landscape Design

Change of focus but still using creativity lead me to:

– Interest in Nutrition…Registered Dietitian, lead me to learn 1) there were limited number of accredited post secondary schools that were acceptable to be a dietitian and 2) it needed to be a Full-Time program
– Completed 4 year Bachelor of Applied Science Degree, while also working PT as a Dietetic Assistant and Foodservice Supervisor on weekends (in local hospital)
– Applied for 3 years before getting a dietetic internship at an affiliated hospital (10 month practicum)
– Graduated from Dietetic Internship, wrote Dietitian’s of Ontario exam to get my RD (Registered Dietitian) status
WORK:
– PT contract at hospital as an outpatient RD in End Stage Renal Disease with dialysis patients (covered hemodialysis, peritoneal, home dialysis)
Other Work:
– PT consulting work with Loblaws and did nutrition presentations and grocery store tours, then…

– PT consulting 1day/wk with Niagara College (Food and Wine Institute) teaching culinary students a basic nutrition class
– Started own Entrepreneur RD work: saw clients in the community in their homes for general healthy eating, added on Nutrigenomix (DNA testing), created my own Online Program for women over 40 to master their home cooking with ease.

Currently:
– Doing some entrepreneurial work online from home AND PT consulting work as a online mentor and RD for a women’s health program
– Working with fellow RD to create local support for women over 40 with overall health and nutrition.
