Career Story
In high school, I knew I wanted to work in the arts. I have always loved painting, drawing, and playing instruments, but chose not to pursue those as a career as I was also strong academically.
I received my undergraduate degree in Art History and then completed my masters degree in Museum Studies at the University of Toronto. During my time in Toronto, I had the opportunity to work hands-on with so many major cultural institutions including the ROM, AGO, Ontario Science Centre, and more.
After completing my degrees, I pictured myself working behind-the-scenes at galleries or museums, perhaps researching, writing, or managing collections. I did have some work experience in local museums & archives, but quickly discovered that I prefer a much faster-paced, community-facing environment.
I started at DVSA in 2021 on a mat leave contract. I have since been hired on full-time, and have taken on more responsibilities as we expand our outreach programming across the Hamilton area. I also get to help with other projects such as gallery exhibitions, special events, and administrative tasks, so it’s never boring!
