Job Description

I help adults (individuals 18+ years of age) select an academic program that matches their career goals, if we offer a related program at McMaster Continuing Education. In addition, I assist with creating study plans, share information about academic policies and procedures, discuss career paths applicable to our programs, and connect students to support services as needed.

Career Story

After high school I went to McMaster University to complete an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. I volunteered during the last 2 years of my undergraduate degree studies to see what I enjoyed doing. I volunteered at a children’s aid organization tutoring students, answering phone calls for a help/crisis line, and assisted with a career fair that McMaster hosted. After university I volunteered at an employment resource centre while working a survival job. That volunteer job led to permanent employment with that company where I facilitated job search workshops, helped individuals update/create a resume, and provided career advice and guidance. I found an interest in researching academic programs for individuals interested in a career change which eventually led me to apply for the role I am still in today. About 5 years ago I completed a Masters of Education graduate degree which will support me in career advancement within the university.
